As Pastor Eunice Olawale, the 42-year-old female preacher of the Redeemed Christian Church of God was who killed with a machete while preaching in the Gbazango-West area of Kubwa by suspected Muslim fanatics on July 9, was laid to rest at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja, the presidency has pledged to find and punish accordingly the killers of the mother-of-seven. Speaking on behalf of President Muhamadu Buhari at the burial service, Babachir David Lawal, the secretary to the government of the federation, promised:
“As a government, we want to inform you that all the perpetrators of this act will not go free and will be brought to book. All Nigerians should be safe and free to practice their religion anywhere. Government’s resolve is to fish out the perpetrators. We pray to God not only to forgive them, but pray that the perpetrators seek for repentance. On behalf of the President and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, may God console you.”
