U.S President Donald Trump, has with the strongest of words, warned North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un, to desist from attacking U.S Island in Asia, Guam, or face a response that no nation on earth has ever experienced before.
After days of escalating rhetoric between the U.S and North Korea over the threat posed by Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programmes, the U.S President showed no signs of toning down his rhetoric and says unlike previous presidents, he’ll shock the North Korean regime if they attack the United States, or allies of the U.S.
Reports on Wednesday revealed that North Korea has miniaturized nuclear weapons, with North Korean owned media, KCNA, reporting that by August 15th they will fire four missiles towards Guam, a U.S owned island that is home to 6000 U.S military officials and houses important military installations.
Trump, speaking on Thursday evening has further warned North Korea, saying they won’t expect what will be dished to them if they attack Guam. Trump, seated at a table at his Bedminster National Golf Club with Vice President Pence, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster and CIA Director Mike Pompeo, during a question and answer session with reporters said;
“Let’s see what he does with Guam,” Trump said of North Korea leader Kim Jong Un. “He does something in Guam, it will be an event the likes of which nobody has seen before – what will happen in North Korea.”
“It’s not a dare, it’s a statement,”
“He has disrespected our country greatly,” Trump said of North Korea’s leader.
“He has said things that are horrific. And with me, he’s not getting away with it. He got away with it for a long time, between him and his family. He’s not getting away with it. It’s a whole new ball game.” ‘I’m a different kinda president’
“I’d like to de-nuke the world,” Trump continued. “I would like Russia, the United States and China and Pakistan and many other countries that have nuclear weapons get rid of them. But until such time that they do, we will be the most powerful nuclear nation on earth, by far.”
Trump spoke of the Obama administration’s nuclear agreement with Iran, saying he doesn’t think Iran is keeping up with the agreement as negotiated.
“I don’t think they’re living up to the spirit of the agreement,” he said.
“President Obama in his wisdom gave them $150 billion. He gave them $1.8 billion in cash. That’s a hard one to figure. But that was his decision. I think it’s a horrible agreement.”
He added:
“I think you’ll see some very strong things taking place if they don’t get themselves in compliance.”
