Retired deputy commissioner of police murdered in Lagos

A retired deputy commissioner of police with the Air wing of the Nigeria Police, Pullen Agbonifor, was, on Tuesday, killed by gunmen suspected to be hired assassins in Lagos. He was shot on Tuesday around 9.00 p.m. by a  four–man gang, who invaded his Idimu Egbeda, Unity Estate home.
The killers reportedly took advantage of the deceased’s  driver’s attempt to drive into his compound to perpetrate the act.Policemen  from Idimu divisional police station arrived on the scene, after one of the sons of the  deceased  sneaked out to report the incident at the police station.

A source, who pleaded anonymity, informed the Nigerian Tribune that the gunmen  followed  the driver of the deceased  into the compound  and threatened everybody there.“What we were told was that the attackers  asked  for the whereabout of the retired policeman and having found him, they shot him and escaped before policemen came,” the source said.
He also said that the gunshots from the gunmen caused panic among residents of the estate, who thought they were armed robbers.The image maker in charge of the state police command, Ngozi Braise, confirmed the incident,  adding that the police had  begun investigations into the incident.
The Lagos police imagemaker  stated that the police were contacted after one of the sons of the slain retired policeman sneaked out and reported at the nearest police station.She also claimed that police arrived on the scene, immediately the incident was reported and that the assassins left the scene after shooting their target.
