Two Spouses Of Ebola Victims Contract Virus

The Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, has confirmed that two new cases of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) have been discovered in Nigeria, bringing to 14, the total number of cases recorded. Read his statement below

“Nigeria has now recorded the first two cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in secondary contacts of the index case, the Liberian-American. The two patients, a man and a woman, are spouses of primary contacts who have been under surveillance. They were quarantined two days ago but others under surveillance along with them had been released. This now brings to four the total number of Ebola Virus Disease patients currently under treatment at the isolation ward”

He clarified that those who had been treated and discharged did not use any of the experimental drugs because Nigerian government applied for the trial drug but could not get it from the United States.
