Frank and Sheridan Leskien, from Sydney, named their daughter Isis (pictured), after the Egyptian goddess who was portrayed as the model wife and mother, and is the patroness of nature and magic. Now the name is associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Isis’ parents have appealed to the media and the public to stop using her name to refer to the extremist group. Isis’ father said what his family was going through was ‘soul-destroying’.
Hmm, I can imagine if they were in Naija … comedians would have “killed” them by now!
