SERENA WILLIAMS

The world number one ended a difficult-for-her Grand Slam season in the best way possible, winning her third consecutive U.S. Open title by beating Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 6-3 on Sunday. Williams, 32, equaled Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova with 18 major singles titles, the fourth-most in history, after taking just 75 minutes to overcome her close friend in New York. The pair have been friends for years, and Wozniacki credits Williams with helped her overcome her engagement breakdown to golf star Rory McIlroy. Among the celebrities watching the match were (L-R) actors Eva Longoria, Robert Redford and Debra Messing.
