Why the Duchess of Cambridge and Zara Philips' baby weight just won't budge

Being a mother is a beautiful thing but getting rid of the ‘mummy tummy’ is one of the hardest thing to do.

Zara Phillips (Lady in yellow)  was this week forced to admit she was not pregnant because of photos of her baby bulge. Mail writer and mother-of-three Helen Carroll recalls her own battle with an embarrassing post-baby paunch. She explains that shorter women like her, and Zara, are more likely to have a ‘mummy tummy’, which is known as diastasis recti. While 5ft 5in Zara, who gave birth to daughter Mia 18 months ago is still carrying baby weight, 5ft 9in Duchess of Cambridge (In blue) is back to her pre-birth shape after having Charlotte on May 2. Helen explains: ‘It’s no surprise that we vertically challenged women are at greater risk of diastasis recti. After all, willowy women, like 5 ft 9 in Kate, have more room for their babies to stretch up, rather than out, as they grow’.

Something that could also help you. Stay away from Alcohol because it has a high sugar content, leading the body to produce insulin and the stress hormone cortisol, which encourages fat to settle around the abdomen.Caffeine is also bad news for the pot-bellied as it, too, encourages cortisol.
