TMZ has reported that the legendary singer Stevie Wonder, up until two years ago, didn’t know that his lawyer and friend, the late Johanan Vigoda, had ripped him off because he was blind. TMZ reports that Johanan had gotten 21-year-old Stevie Wonder to sign a contract that says he will be paying Johanan 6% of all his music royalties, but what Stevie didn’t know was that his lawyer included a clause that says that even upon his death, his family will still be paid, forever.
It wasn’t until two years ago that he learnt his record company was still making payments to Johanan’s widow, and that was when he put a stop to it. Stevie reportedly said he was betrayed by a man he trusted his whole life. But the widow has filed a suit against Stevie to court, demanding that Stevie pay up everything he ‘owed’ her, right from when he stopped those payments – a minimum of $7m.
