A five-month-old boy was orphaned when his parents were killed in a high speed quadbike crash on their honeymoon in the Maldives, an inquest has heard.  Jonathan and Emma Gray, both 25, were travelling on the back of the bike when it hit a tree while they were on their way home from a private party on the Kuredu Island Resort in August 2011.

The host of the party, Filip Petre, had offered to drive the Grays and two other couples back to their villas at the end of the night, the inquest was told.The other couples declined but Mr and Mrs Gray, both of Halifax, West Yorkshire, accepted.The inquest heard the couple rode on the back of Petre’s bike at high speed before it crashed into a tree as the rider tried to negotiate a bend.Petre escaped with minor injuries but Mr and Mrs Gray were killed instantly.
