People who are concerned by the amount of germs on their smartphones, will soon be able to purchase electronic devices that can be washed with soap and water. Kyocera of Kyoto, Japan, showed off latest smartphone, Digno rafre, which can be completely submerged in water and washed.

The company said that despite the fact that waterproof smartphones have been on the market for a while, the Digno rafre is the first device that can be washed in soapy water. The development team of the company revealed that they washed the smartphone more than 700 times to make sure it really is waterproof.

The company showed a child holding the phone before accidentally dropping it into a bowl of ketchup. The mother then took the phone and placed it in the sink, washing it with soap and water. The $175 phone is mainly aimed at parents who want to keep their smartphones clean around their small children. The company warned that only certain types of soap could be used on the device.
This is a welcome development as too much germs are unknowingly passed via smartphones being transferred from one person to another! Good thinking!
