Veteran comedian, Bill Cosby has been exonerated by a federal judge in a defamation lawsuit by 48-year old Renita Hill. According to reports, the case which was filed by the Pennsylvania woman, was thrown out of the court with prejudice by U.S. District Judge Arthur Schwab.

Hill in her suit had claimed the comedian defamed her in the media, causing her emotional distress, thus, went public with allegations in November 2014 that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her back in the 1980s.

In the civil suit filed in October 2015, Hill cited three statements where the comedian, his then-lawyer Martin Singer, and his wife, Camille Cosby, made her out to be a liar and an extortionist.

Judge Schwab ruled that the comments ascribed to Cosby, his wife and lawyer did not support a claim for defamation as defined by Pennsylvania law” and were opinions protected by the First Amendment. Meanwhile, Hill’s attorney, George Kontos has disagreed with Judge Schwab’s dismissal of the case with prejudice with a promise to appeal.
