Bose Omolayo Gets Nigeria’s 6th Gold Medal At Rio 2016 Paralympics

Bose Omolayo has increased Nigeria’s gold medal tally at the ongoing Rio Paralympics to six after shattering her own world record in the -79Kg powerlifting event. Omolayo set a new record of 138kg in Day 5 of the events as she lived to her reputation as the favorite for the title. China’s Lili Hu claimed Silver with a lift of 135kg, while her compatriot Taipei’s Tzu-Hui Lin left to late to win Bronze with her very last attempt.

Tzu-Hui lifted 131kg to pip Mexico’s Perla Barcenas who thought she had earned it at 126kg. However, there was no denying her gold as she added to Nigeria’s medal tally, following in the paths of her compatriot Ndidi Nwosu to win her country’s 2nd gold of Day 5. The sixth gold medal pushes Nigeria up to 9th overall on the rankings table as shown below:
