Janet Jackson and her husband Wissam Al Mana have become parents for the first time. The singer gave birth to a healthy baby boy on January 3, her rep confirmed in a statement to People magazine. According to her rep:
“Janet Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana are thrilled to welcome their new son Eissa Al Mana into the world. Janet had a stress-free healthy delivery and is resting comfortably.”
Jackson, who married Qatari business man Al Mana in 2012, sparked speculation she would be becoming a mother when she postponed Unbreakable World Tour indefinitely last year. The 50-year-old artist revealed her decision in a video posted to Twitter in early April, saying she and Al Mana were “planning [their] family”.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour, and there actually has been a sudden change,” she said in the clip. I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family so I’m going to have to delay the tour.”
She added that she had to “rest up – doctor’s orders” but did not reveal at the time whether she was pregnant or planning to adopt a child. The younger sister of the late Michael Jackson remained fairly tight-lipped throughout her progressing pregnancy.
