Woman With 51 Grandchildren Turns 105 & Still Remembers Their Names

See SWNS story SWGRAN; The family of a 105-year-old Plymouth woman say she stills remembers the names and birthdays of all FIFTY-ONE of her grandchildren. Lucinda Edge, known as Lucy, nee Wiles, was born in Camels Head on January 2, 1912, the youngest of two sisters. Living through two World Wars, she has many memories of these events which she can recall with clarity, says her daughter Mavis, including the time when aged four Camels Head school was used as a hospital during World War One meaning pupils had to attend St Budeaux school, a move that the youngster was not happy about.

A woman has celebrated her 105th birthday and can still remember the names and birthdays – of all 51 of her grandchildren.Lucinda Edge, known as Lucy, has 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.But despite her advancing years, Lucy has no trouble remembering them all – and even reminds other family members when the birthday cards are due.

Her relatives, many of whom joined her for a party at her home in Plymouth, Devon, to celebrate her birthday this month, say the strength of her memory is incredible.Her daughter Mavis, said: ‘She is a very pleasant and kind lady, she lived with me for 38 years, after losing dad. She is very happy at the Vicarage, the staff there have been very good to her.

She doesn’t have very good eyesight, but her memory is very good especially when it comes to recalling the past.She has 51 grandchildren, but remembers all their names and birthdays.’Lucy was born in Plymouth, Devon, on January 2, 1912, the youngest of two sisters.
