Cristiano Ronaldo took home the 2016 prize for The Best Fifa Men’s Player at the inaugural ceremony in January of this year and he is an early front-runner for the 2017 award as well. The Portuguese star is joined by 23 other illustrious names on the shortlist of nominees for this year’s prize, which was announced by Fifa on Thursday. Most of the stars you would expect to see are featured, with Real Madrid’s seven nominees the most from any single club. Only four players from each the Bundesliga and the Premier League are named, while three come from Serie A. Neymar is the lone Ligue 1 representative and the remaining players all play their club football in Spain.
