Proverbs 21:31 (GNB) – “You can get horses ready for battle, but it is the Lord who gives victory.”
Solomon said, GET YOUR HORSES READY FOR BATTLE. God is not averse to your preparation. You’ve got to prepare and prepare very well regardless of what you’re trying to achieve. It is said that tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. Everything you’re doing today should make you better prepared to maximize the opportunities of tomorrow. H.J. Brown Jr. said that “Opportunity dances with those who are ready on the dance floor“.
You’ve got to be prepared for your opportunity when it comes because it may show up at the least expected time and life, most times, may not put the opportunity on pause for your sake because there are several people who have their eyes on it.
However after you have done your own part remember that “it is the Lord who gives victory“. Joshua learnt this lesson the hard way when they were beaten and chased away by the inhabitants of Ai, a very small town in Joshua 7. The Israelites had defeated several Nations much bigger than Ai, but when they faced Ai God was not in it and they were defeated. Prepare diligently and relentlessly, but your faith must never be in your skills, connections, or experience. Remember, it is the Lord who gives victory.
Acknowledge Him as your source of victory, let Him know you trust Him and depend completely on Him and not on your human abilities. He will put you over any day and at any time. In Proverbs 3:5-7, Solomon said, “5 Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. 6 Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. 7 Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!” (MSG)
DECLARATION: I trust in the Lord with all my heart, and I do not lean on my own understanding; In all my ways I acknowledge Him, and He directs my paths. I diligently prepare myself to maximize the opportunities that comes my way, and I acknowledge that ultimately my victory and success comes from the Lord.
