Photos: Miss South Africa Wins Miss Universe 2017

The Miss Universe 2017 pageant took place yesterday, in Las Vegas where ninety-two women from around the world competed for the crown. Steve Harvey hosted the pageant. The top 5 contestants selected after the evening gown portion, were Miss South Africa, Venezuela, Thailand, Jamaica and Colombia.

Advancing to the top 3 were Miss Jamaica, Colombia and South Africa.After answering one question each, Jamaica’s Davina Bennett was made the third runner up, Miss Colombia Laura Gonzalez was the second runner-up, while Miss South Africa, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters emerged as Miss Universe 2017.

Nel-Peters was a favorite throughout the night, she described how she survived a carjacking by fighting back against her attacker and used that terrifying experience to help other women, and spoke out about issues such as equal pay.
