The all-female special forces from Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, look set to bask in their own, solo glory after Marvel announced exciting plans for their own comic series.

In a three-part series, Wakanda Forever (already excited), the characters will be ‘given their own story arc’, to be written by Black Panther: Long Live the Kind and Binti trilogy author Nnedi Okorafor. For those who aren’t up to speed with what the Dora Milaje are all about, they’re a team of specially trained, all-female forces who are tasked with protecting Wakanda – and they do it bloody well.

In the recently released Marvel blockbuster, the leader, General Okoye, was played by The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira as they helped rescue Wakandan spy Nakia, aid T’Challa in the capture of Ulysses Klaue, and later aid him in reclaiming the Wakandan throne. No Biggie. According to Vogue, the  three-parter will feature Okoye, and fellow warriors Ayo, and Aneka as they connect with various Marvel characters including Spider-Man, X-Men and Avengers. Nnedi took to Twitter to confirm the exciting news.
