Bollywood Sridevi Named Best Actress At The National Film Awards Two Months After Her Death

Bollywood actress, Sridevi has been named best actress at the 65th National Film Awards, nearly two months after her death. The Bollywood icon died aged 54 on 24 February, with her cause of death being determined as accidental drowning. Her final role was that of Devki Sabarwal in the thriller Mom – and today, her last performance was honoured at the National Film Awards. The winners of the awards were announced today, with Sridevi being declared as Best Actress for Mom – a film which marked her 300th performance on film.

Mom director Mom director Ravi Udayawar said of the win: ‘She deserves it. I’m really happy, it’s a great news for me because it was our film. She had done a fabulous job. We all are missing her now.’ Mom, which was produced by Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor, saw Sridevi play a biology teacher who sets out to avenge her stepdaughter after she is raped.
