A baby has died in hospital after going into cardiac arrest at West Midland Safari Park this morning. The two-month-old baby girl was airlifted to hospital at around 11.30am after emergency services scrambled to the safari park in Bewdley, Worcestershire.

Police have now confirmed the infant died in hospital. Investigators said the baby’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

Announcing the baby’s tragic death, Inspector Gurjit Singh from the West Mercia Police said: ‘Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the girl at this tragic time. Police officers are offering them support. ‘I would like to thank staff and visitors at the park for their support and understanding while emergency services attended to the girl. ‘The incident is not being treated as suspicious at this time. ‘I would request the family’s privacy is respected at this time.’ Easter Sunday is one of the safari park’s busiest days of the year but traffic was turned away from the tourist attraction for several hours.
