Arsenal midfielder,Jack Wilshere has confirmed that he would be leaving the North London club by the end of June, bringing a stay of 17 years at the club to an end.

Wilshere, who joined the club academy when he was just 9 years old, has been a constant face and a fan favourite at the Emirates.

He was particulary loved by immediate past coach, Arsene Wenger, who stood by him despite his injury but the departure of Wenger at the end of the season must have been one of the contributing factors for the midfielder’s departure.

A statement on the club website read:

“Since joining our Academy more than 17 years ago aged just nine, Jack has been a tremendous player for the club and a much-loved member of the Arsenal family.
