Passengers were left stranded after a train heading from Kano to Lagos derailed in a forest in Ilorin, Kwara state capital. The incident was said to have left the passengers stranded including women and children as some travellers trekked for long distance in order to access vehicles.

An appeal is being made for Kwara state government to send relief materials to the stranded passengers and find a means to rescue them from the forest.

Facebook user Anthony Odoh shared the sad news online. Below is what he wrote;

Our train heading to Kano from Lagos derailed today in a forest after Ilorin. A lot of people especially women and children are stranded. We managed to walk for a long distance to have access to vehicles. Kwara State Government should send relief materials to the women and children and find means of bringing them out of the forest.

Pray for us.
