A 15-year-old Inodnesian girl has been jailed for having an abortion after her older brother raped her. She was sentenced to six months in prison on Thursday while her brother, 18, received a two-year sentenced for sexual offences against a minor. It was revealed in court the girl was raped eight times since September.
In May, residents discovered a headless fetus near a palm oil plantation. Singgih Hermawan, deputy chief of Batanghari police in Jambi province, says both the girl and brother were convicted Thursday. Prosecutors had demanded a one-year prison sentence for the girl and seven years for the brother. Their mother is facing separate charges of aiding abortion.
