Residents of Ilara Mokin in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State reportedly attacked a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) on Sunday following the death of two members of the community who were allegedly crushed to death by a commercial bus.
An eyewitness said the deceased, whose identities were yet to be confirmed as of press time, were said to be on a motorcycle on the Ilesa-Akure Expressway when the 18- passenger Toyota commercial bus overran them, killing them instantly.The eyewitness said the accident sparked off a protest by the youths of the community who allegedly set the bus ablaze and molested the security agencies around.
It was gathered that the Divisional Police Officer in the town, Mr. Wole Ogodo, was attacked and beaten while trying to calm the angry protesters.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident.
