Jay Z has apparently spilled the tea on why he missed Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s wedding all those years ago. And it’s potentially really quite juicy. While we know Jay and his wife Beyonce, the queen, the ruler, the be-all-and-end-all, went through some shit – which produced the banger of an album that is Lemonade – the man himself has added his two cents, again. On the couple’s joint album, Everything Is Love, the 99 Problems rapper seemed to have 100 of the suckers after he copped the wrath of Ye by missing his Florence wedding to Kimmy K back in 2014. Seemed he had a pretty good explanation, though, as he hinted it was a fight between the him and the missus that caused them to shun the nuptials.
On the track aptly named Friends, Jay raps: ‘I ain’t goin’ to nobody nothin’ when me and my wife beefin’ / I don’t care if the house on fire, I’m dyin’, n*gga, I ain’t leavin’/… ‘Ty-Ty take care of my kids, after he done grievin’ / If y’all don’t understand that, we ain’t meant to be friends.’ Ouch. That line makes much more sense in context after Kanye slammed Jay for missing out on his big day. ‘Respectfully, I have to say I was hurt that they didn’t come to the wedding,’ Kanye told Charlamagne tha God earlier this year. ‘I understand they were going through some things, but if it’s family, you’re not gonna miss a wedding.’ Now these lyrics all come together.
Not content with just throwing that lie out there, Jay went on to name all his close friends – such as Ty, E, Breezy and Juan – as you do, and glaringly omitted was Kanye. Guys, why can’t we just go back to Watch The Throne and party like it’s 2011?
