Luis Enrique has been named Spain’s new boss following the pre-World Cup sacking of Julen Lopetegui, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has affirmed on Monday.

La Roja’s World Cup campaign plummeted into chaos just two days before their opening Group match with Portugal, as Lopetegui was relieved of his duty because of agreeing to join Real Madrid after the Mundial.

Rubiales added that the decision to appoint Luis Enrique was unanimous. “We liked his commitment and he has turned down better paid jobs to coach the Spanish national team.”

According to the reports in Spain, It emerged on Sunday that Rubiales was to put forward Lopetegui’s successor to the RFEF’s board on Monday and, not long after doing as such, Luis Enrique’s appointment was made official.
