A man was stabbed in the face by his elder brother for refusing to share his lotto winnings, according to media reports.

The two men clashed at their home on Trenance Park Drive in Phoenix, South Africa.

Reaction Unit South Africa spokesperson Prem Balram says they were called out to the residence after the argument. When they arrived, it was established that the victim had won R25, 000 (over N630,000) in a Lotto Powerball draw.

The clash began when the victim’s elder brother asked for a share which he declined.

According to Balram, the elder brother left their home and later returned and stabbed his younger brother in the face.

Following that he then fled the scene.

“The victim provided Reaction Officers with a description of his brother. Officers patrolled the area and arrested the suspect a few roads away.

The knife used in the stabbing was recovered at the scene,” Balram said.

The family decided to pursue criminal charges after the victim received medical attention.
