The wife of Olympic skier Bode Miller shared a heartbreaking picture online of herself holding her dying daughter to raise awareness against child drownings. Morgan Beck used Instagram to share the photo of herself crying while clinging onto her 19-month-old hooked up to wires and tubes in hospital. Emeline – known as Emmy – was found floating in a neighbour’s pool in Orange County, California and died the next day on June 10.

Morgan, 31, said she wanted to share the shocking image to continue to spread awareness about water safety, saying she wishes she could have one more day to hold her daughter. ‘I told you as I held you in this moment that you could still change the world, you could still move mountains,’ Morgan wrote.

‘Every step we take forward is because of you and Levi. Your footprint will forever be left on this world. I love you, My baby girl.’ The couple have posted numerous pictures which they hope will raise awareness of accidental drowning. Last month they revealed the agony of their loss in a TV interview, comparing the risk of childhood drowning to a ‘lion’ or a ‘kidnapper’ that could take the life of a child in 30 seconds. ‘And the moment those 30 seconds is up, the likelihood of you getting your child back is pretty close to zero,’ Morgan said.

She added: ‘There is not a day that goes by and I don’t pray for an opportunity to go back to that day and make it different. ‘But now we have the opportunity to make other parents’ days different.’

You will recall that singer D’banj’s son drowned In June, a month after his first birthday.
