Sometimes, it’s okay to take a break from dating.

To just be on your own and figure things out, work on yourself and once you’re ready, you can get back in the dating game. Dating can be tiring, especially if you’re rushing to get someone to settle down with, simply because people around you are getting married and engaged. That kind of dating pressure will only leave you depressed and unhappy. If you have been going on fruitless dates, joined a couple of dating sites, you’re literally putting yourself out there and nothing is bearing fruit, you may want to take a break, it’s actually good for you and here’s why:

1. You will re-discover yourself.

This is the time to work on yourself, on your flaws, strive to be a better you. Join a gym, get your dream body, travel to places you have always wanted to travel. Become the best version of yourself, a happy, content you, so that when you’re ready to date again, you will not be looking for someone to make your life better but rather, to complement it.

2. You will work on your goals.

Focus on getting your finances right, become that independent woman you have always wanted to be, if you had always dreamt of getting another degree or going back to school do it; take up classes on something you’re passionate about, tick all the boxes you have always wanted to on your goals check list, after all, you have all the time.

3. Taking a break from dating will save you time and money.

Dating can be expensive. When you’re in a relationship, you’re constantly doing things to keep the relationship alive be it small trips here and there, eating out, treating each other to cute gifts and what not. When you’re on a break, the money is all yours and the time. And if you think about it, dating is way too much pressure anyway. All these dates yo have been going to, meeting different guys, repeating your whole life story every other time in the hope of finding the one, it’s never that serious.

4. You get to reconnect with friends.

When you’re in a relationship, you spend a lot of time with your S.O, and less time with your friends and family. Taking a much needed break will allow you to reconnect with some of your friends. Take a trip with your girls, paint the town red on a night out and make memories with those who mean the most to you.

5. You will attract the right kind of guys after the break.

When we are desperately searching, we tend to settle for less due to the fear of being single and come off as needy. But, when you take a break, you will get to think about how you want to be loved and how you want to love. You will be sure about what exactly you want in a relationship and will not settle for anything less, after all, you’ll be content with yourself and not looking for a man as a financial gain or a . of happiness but someone who will come into your life and add value.
