Three young men, who resorted to armed robbery as means of livelihood, have had to pay the ultimate price of death in Ogun State. They met their Waterloo after being caught in the act by the police, resorting to test of might and the resultant bowing to the detectives’ superior fire power.

The three suspects were shot dead on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Fidiwo on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway

Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated in a press release made available to Crimepuzzle that, a gang of robbery syndicate, among whom were the felled three, had attacked one Jumoke Ogunbade, a popular female bush meat seller.

He said the victim was at the point of attack to keep appointment with her bush meat supplier, only to be ambushed by the marauders, a scenario that caught the attention of the police through a distress call.

“On receiving the information, the DPO, Owode Egba Division, CSP sheu Alao, quickly led his Anti robbery team to the scene where they engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel which lasted for about 30 minutes” the PPRO said, adding that, at the end of the encounter, three members of the syndicate were gunned down while others escaped into the nearby bush with gunshot wounds.

Oyeyemi stated that one locally made single barrel gun, one shot double barrel gun, one single barrel muzzle loading gun, one live cartridge, a wrist watch belonging to the victim of the attack and a cash sum of#10,220 were recovered at the scene.

The police image maker further hinted that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, commended his men for their gallantry display and quick response to the distress call, as well as ordering a serious manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang.

The CP was also quoted to have appealed to members of the public, especially hospitals, traditional healers and other health officials to promptly report anyone with gunshot injuries to the police.
