A 27-year-old man, Ibrahim Bindiga, who was alleged to have killed his neighbour’s son, Usman Abubakar, during a misunderstanding, has been remanded  in the prison custody.

Bindiga, a resident of Filin Samji Quarters, Katsina, will be in custody till October 25 when his case would come up ‘for mention’ before a Katsina State Magistrates’ Court.

According to the police, Bindiga and the deceased had a misunderstanding during which the former allegedly used a sharp knife to stab the latter three times in the stomach and thigh.

The police said Abubakar died on the spot due to serious injuries he allegedly sustained from the stab.

His corpse was taken to the Katsina General Hospital, where a medical doctor reportedly certified him dead.

The corpse was subsequently released to the family for burial.

The deceased’s father, Abubakar  Kankia  reported the incident  at the Central Police station, Katsina, leading to  Bindiga’s arrest.

Bindiga is facing a culpable homicide charge, which, the police said, is contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.

He was arraigned before the a magistrate court, presided over by Fadile Dikko, on Tuesday for cognizance before his case was adjourned.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado had earlier told the court that investigation was still in progress and pleaded with the presiding magistrate for a new date.
