Norwegian Cup Semi-Finals Feat With IK Start Thrills Aremu

Super Eagles B team midfielder Afeez Aremu is happy his club IK Start are through to the semi-final of the Norwegian Cup following their 2-1 win over Bodo/Glimt on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Afeez who was named the man of the match in the encounter hailed his side’s tenacity against Bodo/Glimt whom they defeated 2-1 in a Norwegian Eliteserien league game four days earlier.

Tobias Christensen gave IK Start the lead after seven minutes but Fardal Opseth restored parity in the 20th minute. Herolind Shala grabbed the winner in the 76th minute of the encounter.

“They were very tough and were out to avenge the league defeat they suffered on Sunday,” Aremu told CSN.

“We will do all we can to get to the final of the competition.”

Aremu tweeted after the match: ”Another important victory today.. We are through to the Semi-Finals @ikstart ?.”

Aremu who was also named the man of the match has made 23 appearances for IK Start in all competitions scoring three times.

IK Start are currently 14th in the Norwegian Eliteserien league table with 23 points from 23 games.
