Most people tend to put their best foot forward on a date. However, there are situations where you can still see through their fake first impressions.
These red flags are often overlooked because you’re so excited on the date or because they seem like no big deal. But do not ignore the signs he’s not relationship material.
You don’t have his attention
His eyes may be wandering to his phone, the TV or even other passing women. If he cannot focus on getting to know you on a first date, there’s a pretty high chance you’ll spend the relationship fighting for his attention. A man who does this obviously does not consider his date that important.

He only talks about himself
Another one of the signs he’s not relationship material is if he constantly talks about himself. Even when you get a chance to say something, he will interrupt and bring the conversation back to him. Clearly, he considers himself the only person worthy of focus.
Rude to everyone
There’s nothing appealing about a man who gets off on making other people feel bad. If he’s disrespectful for no reason other than just to be a bully to someone he believes to be ‘less’ than him, then beware. This is a character trait that can turn into abusive behavior.
He bashes his ex
One of the signs he’s not relationship material that you’ll notice on a first date is if his ex keeps coming up in conversations. It’s even worse when he has nothing good to say about her. He may get downright nasty. That kind of bitterness is either proof that he’s not over her, or that he’s just an angry/rude person overall.

Belief system
We all have our core values and beliefs. If for instance you’re very religious and you’re a date with someone who doubts that there’s a God, you probably shouldn’t schedule a second date. Having opposing belief system in strong issues like morals, money, politics, etc, should not be swept under the rug.
