A 15-year-old girl, Elizabeth Elijah, who sustained a leg injury from the crashed Nigeria Air Force jet last Thursday, has been awarded a scholarship by the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

The native of Kachia, Kaduna State, was said to be at the farm when she was hit by flying shrapnel from the aircraft which crashed during rehearsals for the celebration of the nation’s 58th Independence anniversary.

The jet pilot, Squadron Leader Bello Muhammed Baba-Ari, died while his two colleagues, whose plane also crashed, survived the air accident.

Elijah, who resides with her parents in Chikoko village in Bwari Area Council of the FCT, was presented with the scholarship documents by the FCT Director of Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Adamu Noma, when he visited her at the Maitama General Hospital, Abuja, on Wednesday.
