Former Nigeria international, Mutiu Adepoju, has backed Real Madrid to bounce back from the disappointing 5-1 defeat to Barcelona in their El Classico clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

Luis Suarez’s hat-trick with goals from Philippe Coutinho and Arturo Vidal helped Barcelona hammer the European champions despite the absence of the injured Lionel Messi.

Marcelo scored a consolation goal for Julen Lopetegui’s side in the second half in a match the hosts totally dominated.

The defeat saw Madrid lose three straight Liga matches for the first time since 2009 and left the club in ninth place, seven points behind leaders Barcelona.

“Losing can be frustrating but it shows you the grey areas that need correction. We will surely bounce back #HalaMadrid #LaLigaSantander #ELCLÁSICO,” Adepoju tweeted.

The defeat also put Lopetegui job on the line with reports that he is set to be replaced by
former Chelsea and Italy coach, Antonio Conte.

Adepoju has strong affinity with Real Madrid having joined the LaLiga giants in 1989 following his exploits for the Nigeria U-20 side at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Saudi Arabia the same year.

He however failed to make it to the first team and only featured for the B side throughout his three year stay at the club.
