Tomane pulled one back for Tondela three minutes later but Setubal held on for their first away win of the season.

It was also a fourth straight start and full game for Agu who’s now an integral part of coach Vidigal’s team who are now placed seventh on the Primeira Liga.

“It was a difficult game for us but we are happy to take all three points. Sometimes you play well and end up losing so I guess we’ll rather take this performance and the three points.

Hopefully, it helps us to get better and stronger in subsequent games,” Agu told Completesportsnigeria.com.

After joining on-loan from parent club FC Porto on transfer deadline day, the Super Eagles player took time to settle down at Setubal but he’s now one of the first names on the roster with his assured performances from the holding midfield position where he plays in front of the centre-backs.

Although on one yellow card so far, Setubal have not lost any of the three games in which Agu started for them.

Setubal are away again to second-placed Sporting Braga on November 4 at the Estadio Municipal de Braga.

Agu is yet to be recalled back to the Super Eagles after missing out on the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
