Defending champions, Complete Sports kick-started their trophy defence of the Lagos SWAN Cup on a bright note after amassing 7 points out of possible 9 in three opening group games played at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium on Independence Day.

Parading a star-studded team made up of foreign based players like Johnny Edward, Julius Ojeagbase, Babatunde Alao, Joseph Ambrose, John Chijioke, Michael Ekezie, Francis Jacob, Ascent Egoigbe and others who won the 2017 edition sponsored by Merrybet, Complete Sports left no one in doubt that they remain the team to beat in this year’s edition bankrolled by top betting outfit, Bet9ja.

In the opening game, the Ojeagbase Bombers from Okota spanked Inspiration FM 5-0, drew 2-2 with Radio Nigeria in the second match and then trashed Sports Compass 3-1 in the Group C fixtures watched by hundreds of football fans who thronged the stadium for the games.

Lagos SWAN executives as well as top Bet9ja officials who were also on ground at the stadium were treated to good display of soccer by the competing teams from several media houses.

Complete Sports will take on the Sun Newspapers on Tuesday in their last group game. Even though the champions have qualified for the second round, the result will determine who eventually top the Group C table.

It is also noteworthy, that the organisers have picked Complete Sports’ jerseys made up of patterned orange shirts, stripped ash-colored shorts and orange hoses as the best on parade so far.

Meanwhile, Several scouts from top European clubs have bombarded Complete Sports’ camp with mouth-watering contract offers for the players just as Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has dispatched some of his assistants to scout for outstanding players from the CS team to beef up the national team ahead of the October 13 AFCON qualifier against Libya.
