finding love

The normal thing is for Nigerian parents, aunties and “well-wishers” to start hounding you about marriage once you hit 23. Once you hit a certain age group, you can be pressured into finding love just to please society. The problem with this is, you forget to put yourself first and figure out what makes you happy.

People give advice based on how informed they are and the realities around them. But this does not necessarily apply to everyone because we all have different lives and different realities.

There is a lot more to life than finding love and getting married and the sooner you realize this, the happier your life will be. So spend time making lasting memories and positive impact on the people  around you.

If you haven’t travelled before, this is the time to do it. Go on a hiking trip with friends, travel the world, and if you can’t afford that, then travel around the country. There are so many wonderful sights to see without stepping out of Nigeria. Do fun new things and take in a lot of fresh air, your body will thank you for it.

Chase those dreams you’ve been nursing since you were little. Start that business, get an extra degree, learn a new language or apply for that job you’ve always wanted. Experiment with all the crazy ideas you have and just live your life to the fullest. Somewhere along the line, you might find love and if you don’t that’s fine too.

Enjoy your single life without putting unnecessary pressure on yourself to find love because, at the end of the day, the only love you truly need is the one you give yourself.
