Boko Haram insurgents attacked Mairari and Femari communities in Konduga local government area of Borno state on Saturday night.
The insurgents reportedly attacked the communities atround 8:30 pm, killing one person and setting houses ablaze.
The attack came barely 12 hours after the insurgents killed more than 10 farmers and abducted some people at Kuwa-Yangeya village on Maiduguri-Damboa road.
Goni Umar, a witness, said the insurgents came into the communities in trucks and on motorcycles.
He said they carted away food items from shops and houses before setting them ablaze.
He added that during the attack, villagers fled into the bush while some ran to Maiduguri, the state capital.
Bulama Biu, acting general commanding officer (GOC), 7 Division, confirmed the attack to NAN.
“Troops have been deployed since 8:45 pm and they are still combing the area in order to apprehend the culprits,” he said.
Although the current administration has repeatedly claimed victory over the sect, Boko Haram has continued to carry out deadly attacks.
