Mass Communication Students Of Lagos State Polytechnic Visit Complete Sports

Some students of the Mass Communication Department of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo Campus did excursion to the headquarters of the Complete Communications Limited, publishers of Complete Sports newspaper.

The visits by the students numbering about a dozen and made up of HND 2 students was facilitated by Mr. Tunji Adewunmi who is a lecturer at the institution and was aimed at exposing the students to the practical aspect of multi-media and online journalism.

On arrival at Complete Sports premises by mid-day, the entourage were received by the Manager Online Division, Mr. Solomon Ojeagbase welcomed the students. Sulaimon Alao a veteran journalist at Complete Sports  led the students on tour of the premises and various departments in the organisation.

The daily production chain were explained to the students as they were taken through various departments – administration, editorial, advertorial, computer, lithography, the press as well as the online platform – completesportsnigeria.com The students also had the opportunity to visit the Complete Sports Studios department where they were intimated with the running of both the television (visual) and radio (audio) studios.

Commenting after the activities, one of the students, Karounwi Adenike said the visit had opened her and her colleagues eyes to the modern trend of newspaper and online/website publishing while adding that the exposure will be of great value in their course of study.

“We thank the management of Complete Sports for welcoming us and exposing us to how a newspaper publication and website is run on daily basis.
“It was interesting to see and experience first-hand the activities and the environment of work which hopefully, we would find ourselves in the nearest future.
“It is further fascinating to see the television and radio studios. The experience has added value to us especially in our course of study which is Mass Communication,” Adenike said.

On departure, Mr. Ojeagbase thanked the students for visiting and admonished them to shun cultism and work hard at their studies to made good grades which will enhance their job opportunities after graduation.
