Omeruo, Simon Make Copa Del Rey Debut; Osimhem, Awoniyi Fire Blanks in Belgium

Kenneth Omeruo made his Copa Del Rey debut for Leganes who forced Rayo Vallecano to a 2-2 draw in Tuesday’s first leg round of 32 clashes at the Butarque stadium reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

 

Two goals in five minutes from Alvaro Garcia and Alexander Alegria gave Rayo Vallecano a two-goal lead in the first half but a brace from Youssef En-Nesyri earned Leganes a draw ahead of the second leg billed for the 5th December at the Estadio del Rayo Vallecano.

The game was Omeruo’s fourth for Leganes since he joined the club this summer. The 25-year-old Omeruo is one of the eight defenders called up by Gernot Rohr for next month’s 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against South Africa in Johannesburg.

Victor Osimhen fired blanks in his eight starts for his Belgian club, Sporting Charleroi who defeated Sint-Truiden 1-0 in a Belgian Jupiler clash. The 19-year-old who was recently recalled back to the senior national team after a year out has scored five league goals.

 

Taiwo Awoniyi came on for Roman Yaremchuk for the last six minutes in Gent’s 3-1 away loss to Royal Excel Mouscron. Awoniyi is yet to score a league goal in 11 games. His compatriot Anderson Esiti played the entire duration of the defeat.
