A British woman could face the death penalty in Malaysia after allegedly stabbing her husband to death following a row, according to reports. John William Jones, 62, was found by a neighbour, sprawled on the floor of his home, it is reported.

He had suffered a stab wound to his chest at about 2.30am this morning, police told AFP.

His 62-year-old wife Samantha was arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours and has been remanded in custody, the Daily Mail reports.

If she is found guilty of murder, she will be sentenced to death by hanging in Malaysia, reports say.

The couple are believed to have had a row in their bungalow in Kampung Gelam, Langkawi, reports claim.

Mr Jones’s wife is then alleged to have grabbed a knife from their kitchen and stabbed him.

A police officer reportedly said a 12 inch knife was found covered in blood stains in the married couple’s bedroom.

The knife is believed to be the alleged murder weapon, The Star Online reports.

Pictures show Samantha Jones being arrested with her hands behind her back.

She was reportedly escorted to a magistrates court by a policewoman and other officers in plain clothes.

There she was given a six day remand order from today, reports said.

A postmortem examination is due to take place after her husband’s body was sent to a hospital in Alor Setar, it is reported.
