The video for XXXTentacion’s Moonlight has been released three months after his death. The single became his second highest charting release. The footage sees him smiling as he walks through a party under the moonlight and he’s in his own world, listening to music and laughing to himself as he watches others having a good time. XXX is billed as the writer and creative director on the video. The song shot to number 13 on Billboard Hot 100 in the wake of his death and this is the second video to be released since his untimely demise, with SAD being dropped the same month he died.

The rapper was shot dead on 18 June in what’s thought to have been a robbery gone wrong. CCTV footage was recently released showing the last movements of XXX, real name Jahseh Onfroy, in which he could be seen in the motorbike showroom where two men follow him in. The footage then changes the car park, where men can be seen approaching XXX’s car, with one pulling a gun and firing at point blank range while another climbs into the car in an attempt to steal from the rapper.

The thieves stole a Louis Vuitton bag – which contained $50,000 (£38,335). It’s thought they opened fire after failing to get the chain from around his neck. The court was told that the one of the suspects was carrying a ‘short-barrelled rifle’ and that the other had a ‘handgun’ and that they were trying to get ‘the victim to remove the chain that’s around his neck’. Footage of the shooting was played during the bail hearing for Robert Allen, the third man arrested for XXXTentatcion’s murder.

Following his death, his mother revealed he was due to become a dad as his girlfriend is pregnant with their son.
