A 10-year-old girl has given birth to a boy after she was allegedly raped by her older brother. The baby was delivered by cesarean section at a hospital in Colombia where both the girl and her son are said to be doing well. They were being looked after at a hospital in the borough of Florencia in the town of Puerto Leguizamo.
Hospital director Camilo Diaz said: ‘According to the information we have received from the police, the minor became pregnant after she was sexually abused by a family member, apparently her brother.’ According to local media, the girl’s parents did not want to report their son to the local authorities. However, local police are looking into the allegation of rape and claims of child abuse. The girl and her baby are not being named.
