Foreign Scouts In Uyo To Discover Next Chukwueze At 2018 Super Stars Tournament

The fortunes of some young Nigeria players may soon change as scouts from several foreign clubs are in the city of Uyo,  Akwa Ibom State, for the maiden edition of Super Stars Tournament which holds from the 5th to 9th November 2018.

The invitational tournament which is being organized by the president of Super Stars Academy, Prince Victor Apugo, will see 20 teams from across the country battle for honors in the presence of top scouts such as Nottingham Forest head of scouting Simon Hunt, Holland’s Michael Robert, Van Til Elliot Keith all from the UK, Fernandes Barbosa Jose Carlos(Portugal), Morais Roberto Emilio (South Africa) and  Graham Daniel Heydorn (Canada).

The participating teams include; Gee-Lec International Academy, Jos, Red Tigers Football Club, Lagos, Taye Football Academy, Owerri, Landmark Sports Allstars, Abuja, Goddosky FC, Nnewi, Family Love Academy, Port-Harcourt, Save Side Academy, Calabar, Greenlife Football Academy, Ehime-Mbano, Homeboys Football Club, Owerri, Greater Tomorrow Academy, Uyo, New Generation Academy, Umuahia, Groomer Football Academy, Umuahia, Eagle Eye Football Academy, Uyo, Glory Academy, Calabar and Super Stars Academy, Uyo (hosts).

 

Apugo who was previously the General Manager of Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Nwakali’s former club Diamond Football Academy said it is his personal wish to ensure that more players hit stardom just like some of the products of his former academy who are making waves abroad for their respective clubs.

 

He said: “It is my pleasure to have played a vital role in the discovery and nurturing of Samuel (Chukwueze) to becoming the star he is right now. I hope to discover more talents like him and we’ve put this tournament together solely for that purpose.

 

“We can all see Samuel is doing very well at Villarreal and his invitation to the Super Eagles is a testament of the talents that abound in this country and how far they can go if given the opportunity.

 

“We have so many scouts from Europe and coaches of Nigeria’s cadet National teams and we hope by the end of the tournaments the fortunes of some young talents will be changed forever,” he concluded.
