How To Wash Your Braids Without Making It Frizzy

0
Braids are really great protective hairstyle but if you don’t take care of your hair under the braids, it could put your hair in a bad condition. And that would defeat the purpose of protective styling.

You don’t even need to go to the salon to get this done. You can actually wash your braids at home yourself and it’s pretty simple. Here’s how:

  1. Use A Clarifying Shampoo Diluted With Water

The choice of shampoo you use to wash your braids actually matters. A clarifying shampoo is necessary to remove product build-up from the scalp. But be sure to dilute the shampoo with water to weaken the formula so it rinses out easily.

   2. Focus On The Scalp

When washing, be sure to pay attention to the scalp. Massage the shampoo into your scalp in circular motions and be careful not to apply pressure on the braids. To wash your braids, gently run your fingers down the length of the braids but don’t scrub. Scrubbing the braids will loosen them up and make them frizzy.

3. Rinse Hair Thoroughly

And when you’re done, rinse again!

4. Condition

Most people skip this step but it is actually just as important. You’ll also need to dilute the conditioner with water first and then run it down the length of the braids. To deep condition, you can cover with a shower cap for about 10 mins and then rinse it out thoroughly.

3. Air Dry Or Use A Towel

After rinsing out the conditioner, squeeze out excess water first and then wrap a large towel around your braids to dry. Or just leave it to air dry. We don’t recommend using a blow dryer because it could really make your braids frizzy.

4. Use Oil Spray Or Coconut Oil

When your braids are properly dry, use a little oil spray or coconut oil on them to keep them looking shiny.
