Nowadays, brides do not have to wear the customary white gown. Going by the trends we are seeing on bridal magazines, bridal fashion weeks, and bridal shows, colored wedding gowns are becoming increasingly common.

It’s important to mention though that the color of the wedding gown varies from culture to culture depending on a number of factors. For example, in some cultures, red is a symbol of strength, success and vigor and you will find brides opting for red dresses. White dresses became common during the Victorian times and white became the go-to wedding gown color for many western brides. White is associated with purity, virginity and the innocence of the girl getting married. However, in recent times, brides are breaking from the norm and going for contemporary designs that are not necessarily white. Pastel tones such as a hues of pink, light blue and beige are becoming the quintessential colors for brides who want colored gowns. Still, there are the bold and daring brides who are choosing to go for colors such as red or even black. In my opinion, your wedding day is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life and you really should do whatever the hell you feel like doing.

When your big day comes and you’re not quite sure if white is the color for you, we have some inspiration on colored wedding gowns you can opt for.
