Super Falcons lose 3-2 Friendly Match

Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Thursday lost 3-2 to Dominion Hotspur, in their first preparatory match played at the Atlantic Hall pitch, Epe Lagos reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

 

A brace from Etim Friday and another strike from Kolawole Bashir saw Dominion Hotspur hand the eighth time Africa Women Cup of Nations winners their first defeat ahead of the 11th Africa Women’s Nations Cup in Ghana.

Amarachi Okoronkwo shot the Falcons into an early lead in the 17th minute but her strike was canceled out with a brace from Etim Friday to send the Lagos based team, Dominion Hotspur into the break with a 2-1 first-half lead.

 

At the start of the second half, Super Falcons head coach Thomas Dennerby made ten substitutions hoping for a comeback against Dominion Hotspur but his team conceded a third goal ten minutes later.

 

Kolawole Bashir struck in the 55th minute exerting Dominion Hotspur dominance over the Super Falcons.

 

With 15 minutes left to play the Danish tactician introduced Rasheedat Ajibade, Anam Imo, Chioma Nwogu, Christy Adule for Nneka Julius, Chinaza Uchendu, Ngozi Okobi, and Ogonna Chukwudi and the team was rewarded with a goal.

 

Nwogu reducing the tally with a close-range finish five minutes from time.

 

The Super Falcons are currently preparing for the 11th Africa Women’s Nations Cup in Ghana.

 

The eight-time Champions, Nigeria have been drawn to play South Africa, Kenya, and Zambia in Group B of the competition.

 

The Thomas Dennerby side will play their games in Cape Coast with their opening encounter against the Banyana Banyana on Sunday, 18th November.
