5 Lessons We Can Learn From Linda Ikeji’s Breakup

0

Linda Ikeji recently shared a blog post where she opened up about her relationship with her son’s father and how it all ended. Many people have expressed their opinions right there on the blog and all over social media. And while we may all have our own respective points of views, we cannot overlook the important lessons we can learn here.

While confirming that Sholaye Jeremi is indeed Jayce’s dad, she went on to reveal how their relationship started and why it eventually ended. And here are five lessons we can all learn from her story:

1. An ex should remain an ex

Linda revealed that even after her relationship with Sholaye ended the first time, she still returned to him because she “couldn’t find anyone else.” Being single is never a reason to return to a dead relationship, especially when the issues that led to the breakup weren’t resolved. Linda said Sholaye could not handle the publicity that came with her and that was why he wanted out at first. When they got back together years later, the blogger was still a well-known personality. Hence, what led to the initial breakup was still a problem. And it remained a problem until they parted ways for good.

2. Don’t let desperation take over

Sometimes, when you want a relationship to work so badly, you may end up holding on much longer than you should. Linda was smart enough to end things when Sholaye began treating her with “hate and aggression” a few months into her pregnancy. Considering how far they had gone at that point and with a baby on the way, it would have been tempting for her to hang in there and hope things would change. But her choice to end things as soon as it started turning sour was a commendable one.

3. Learn from your mistakes but never be ashamed of them

Linda Ikeji was willing to open up about a failed relationship and the truth is, not everyone is that courageous. Putting your story out there to be judged by others is tough. But Linda has chosen to not be ashamed of her story and, of course, her beautiful baby boy.

4. Celebrities are human too

It’s easy to attack people for their choices especially when they are famous. But the truth is that Linda’s story is something many women are going through. Relationship problems usually don’t care much about your fame. So perhaps seeing this side of Linda will remind you to be a little kinder to her and other people, of course. You never know the battles people are facing in secret.

5. Positivity always wins

You have to give Linda props for choosing to see the positives in all of this. She has resolved to embrace her son and focus her attention on him rather than living in regrets. The blogger has accepted her past but she chose not to let it take away from the blessings in her life. She is ready to move on to being a mother and we can certainly learn something from that choice. Life happens. And we should always remain positive. No matter how bad things get, it’s possible to only focus on the good and be grateful for small blessings.
