Check Out These Dope Outfits By African Designers

Beyonce might have toured other countries after her time in South Africa but her Global Citizen Festival buzz isn’t over yet!

Yesterday, Beyonce (finally!!!) posted photos from her trip where she acknowledged all the African designers that kept her looking fly all through. Her caption read “Thank you to all the African designers who kept me feeling fresh. Y’all go so hard” complete with a Beehive emoji. Instagram went into a frenzy as everyone wanted to know who the designers were – including us! Fast forward to now, we have the deets and we are spilling it all!

Los Angeles/New York-based stylist Zerina Akers collaborated with fashion editor and Nigerian stylist, Peju Famojure to source for made in Africa pieces for Queen Bey to wear during her entire stay in Mzanzi. (We are so gagging at the impact one person has; so unreal!) In all, Queen Bey wore different outfits by designers representing the continent from Kenya, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Burkina Faso and South Africa (of course!) Let’s find out who they are!

Outfit 1 – Mmuso Maxwell & Adama Paris

The Queen looked chic in a Spring/Summer 16 set from South African designer, Mmuso Maxwell and she completes her look with a red Boyette bag from Adama Paris.

Outfit 2 – Tongoro & Edun

Beyonce has always been a fan of Tongoro so it’s no surprise she was decked in their monochrome FW I8 power suit. Her purse which has a cultural feel to it is from an ethical fashion brand called Edun.

Outfit 3 – Tongoro

Twice is a charm (technically, she has been spotted in pieces from the brand more than twice but you know what we mean)! Here, Bey rocks a wide leg pant and crop top from the Senegalese brand. Now, we have Tongoro at the top of our wishlist!

Outfit 4 – Peulh Vagabond

Queen Bey is fabulous in a top and pants from Peulh Vagabond‘s urban collection that skilfully blends aesthetics and African tradition. Look four is quite the switch up if you ask us!

Outfit 5 – Yhebe Design & Afrikanista

Yhebe Design slayed the Ankara print asymmetric midi skirt which Beyonce paired with a graphic tee from Afrikanista. Casual chic on fleek!

Outfit 6 – Rich Mnisi

Beyonce is all shades of cool in a colourful shirt which she paired with a crocodile half pleat skirt from Rich Mnisi. Let’s not even get into those tribal accessories – chic perfection!

Thumbs up to the stylists who put the looks together – we can’t even pick out a favourite!
